This basic qualitative dissertation included an exploration regarding the experiences of senior- level, prelicensure nursing students with using forms of nursing informatics throughout their nursing education. A gap in the current literature was noted regarding the total perspective of nursing students with using various forms of nursing informatics. The primary research question was as follows: How do senior-level, prelicensure nursing students perceive the integration of nursing informatics into their program of study? There were four subquestions, as well which included (a) What experiences have senior-level, prelicensure nursing students had with the various forms of nursing informatics? (b) What benefits did senior-level, prelicensure nursing students see in using various forms of nursing informatics? (c) What challenges have senior- level, prelicensure nursing students had with various forms of nursing informatics? and (d) How did senior-level, prelicensure nursing students apply their knowledge of nursing informatics throughout their nursing education? The participants included 10 senior-level, prelicensure associate and baccalaureate degree program nursing students. Participants were interviewed using semi-structured interviews, which asked research-designed, open-ended questions. The data analysis revealed four themes: (a) exposure to nursing informatics, (b) challenges related to nursing informatics, (c) nursing informatics is quicker/ease of access, and (d) nursing informatics is helpful to nursing education. The findings revealed benefits and challenges to using various forms of nursing informatics and that more training is warranted. Future research should focus on the perspectives of senior-level, prelicensure nursing students who have utilized the telehealth form of nursing informatics.
