The purpose of this study was to explore nursing informatics instructors' perceptions of social justice. The qualitative approach of descriptive phenomenology was used and five instructors in three Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) nursing informatics programs in the US were interviewed to explore how they perceive social justice. The Giorgi method was used to analyze the data which inductively revealed five themes: problems in healthcare, nursing informatics contributions to social justice, amount of content, action, and the role of data. These five themes informed the essence: DNP nursing informatics instructors perceive social justice as a recognition of injustice that can be addressed through actionable education which includes the role of data in creating healthcare systems that meet everybody's needs.
